Who You Are
As an Estate Disposal Surveyor in the Estates Strategy & Development (ES&D) team, you manage property transfers and disposals for Somerset Council. You assess properties, develop business cases, and oversee transactions to support the council's strategic goals. You will join a team responsible for managing a vast portfolio of assets, ensuring effective development and management.
What the Job Involves
Your role involves managing complex estate casework to achieve the council's strategic objectives, coordinating the disposal of non-operational assets, and advising on potential values. You will oversee estate activities with a long-term planning perspective, involving regular travel across Somerset to inspect various assets. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with the Local Government Act for property transfers, contributing to strategic asset planning, and instructing legal teams on transfers and leases.
Skills
- Degree in relevant field
- Experience in estate management
- Ability to work autonomously
- Self-motivated and initiative-driven
- Work from Somerset Council Offices 2 days/week
- Chartered status (MRICS/or Associate) - desirable
- Recent experience in Local Government - desirable
