Who You Are
As an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Social Worker, you are an experienced and qualified professional adept at conducting Mental Health Act assessments across multiple settings. You possess a deep working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (Amended 2007), Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and relevant safeguarding policy and procedures. Your approach to work is person-centered, outcome-focused, and you effectively promote user and carer participation alongside a strength-based approach.
What the Job Involves
This role requires coordination and execution of Mental Health Act assessments within Tower Hamlets and involves processing referrals, applying for warrants, and conducting police risk assessments. You will engage with various locations, including hospitals, police stations, and courts, and are expected to maintain precise and timely records. You will support risk management, adult safeguarding, and develop relationships with partners across criminal justice, health, housing, and community sectors. Additionally, you will manage personal and team performance, contribute to council priorities, and uphold equality and diversity in service delivery.
Skills
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 (Amended 2007), Care Act 2014, and safeguarding policies
- Qualified Social Work status with AMHP certification
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with partners and stakeholders
- Experience in risk and crisis management
- Competence in producing detailed reports and records
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
- Proficient in maintaining up-to-date professional development
